In The Last Remaining Light

Saying it’s been a long year is a criminal understatement so I will leave the reflection to real, qualified writers and experts who know what to say and how to say it.

To those reading this – I hope the damage be it physically, mentally, financially etc has been minimal. I hope you haven’t lost too much in all of this. I, especially hope you haven’t lost yourself. If you ever need anyone to correspond with I will ALWAYS reply to random or anonymous emails if you are in need. It’s a tiny gesture but a responsibility I feel we all have for one another regardless of age, creed, nationality or any other belief.

If you are in true crisis there is no shame in calling this number right now: 1-800-273-8255.

I wish you and yours all the best this holiday season and hope that wherever you are in this crazy world you stay safe and merry.

With that said, I just wanted to thank everyone for reading this page – it has been a lot of fun to write and create. I have been fortunate enough to have met a a lot of artists, writers and others creatives that have offered to lend a hand and services out of the kindness of their heart.

The most exciting part for me has been how many different people from all over the world I’ve spoke with while working on this project just in the past couple of months. American musicians, Mexican game streamers, Sindhi activists, Russian artists, Finnish bloggers and everything in between. Even if you are not looking it does not take long to find that the true currency of exploring the internet is the people that you meet.

So less of a flex than it is just having fun and (being a big sports fan I am very much into statistics) I wanted to do a quick run down of the most readers by country the blog has seen the past couple months since I’ve started.

Countries I have had readers from warms my heart.
The entry, “Stars Above Rats Below” has been the most popular entry of the year.

With the exception of this and (possible but doubtful?) a report card on European internet freedoms I have concluded the writing year of 2020 and have already began several articles for next year and I hope you choose to join me then.

As for me you can find me anywhere stupid hats are sold.

Love and well wishes. Yes… even for you, Nevik. – DC

      1. Ian Thornley and Big Wreck have been my spirit animal for a couple decades now. 😂 But regardless of your tastes, Ontario radio stations are hands down better listening than American states. In case you were wondering. Which you weren’t. Lol. So sorry about that. Point is I love Canada. Except for the Maple Leafs. 😜

      2. Ha ha.

I listen to Q107 classic rock but also some softer rock. My playlist however right now is – sit down – ABBA. 😂

        Whatever. 🙃

My kid plays competitive hockey (Not now with covid) so never mind the Leafs. 😉

  1. I understand how you feel knowing that many others in other lands are reading your words. Several months back I realized I had a large following in India and the consistently read my blog. I was so deeply touched by that. Have a happy new year.

    1. It is a humbling feeling. We are all much more connected than we imagine. I think WordPress brings out the good in a lot of people from a lot of different backgrounds. Happy new year. ❤️

    1. It is a small joke I now have with my friends. He is a stranger who runs a website that published one of my entries without my knowledge. When I asked him about it he said I was a terrible writer and we argued. So now I pick on him in case he is still reading. 😂

      It’s petty but it’s honest work. 😂

  2. I’m on my way to the stupid hat store and looking forward to meeting you in person.

Oh, wait. We’re in lockdown. Stupid hats are, stupidly, classified as nonessential. The stupid hat store is closed. Ah, well, I’m glad to have virtually met you and spared you what would probably have been an awkward meeting anyway.
